AATCC Foundation Student Research Grant Winner!

Congratulations to Kavyashree Mruthyunjaya Swamy on her AATCC Foundation Student Research Grant award! The AATCC grant program supports undergraduate and graduate students with research in textile-related fields. Kavya will use her award to expand her practice of natural dyes and sustainable print practices. From Yiqi Yang, Chair of the AATCC Foundation Student Research Review Board:

“On behalf of the AATCC Foundation Student Research Review Committee, I wish you success in your current and future research endeavors. We are pleased to support your research project and look forward to your involvement in other AATCC activities.”

This prestigious grant will allow Kavya to dive deeper into her research for her thesis collection.

“It is a great honor to receive the AATCC Foundation Student Research Support Grant that will help fund the expenses of my thesis research at Thomas Jefferson University. I am most grateful for your belief and support, and I would like to thank you for choosing and encouraging me with my research.

For the past year, I have been studying the effects of different printing methods on regenerated textiles using natural dyes. Although my research is still ongoing, I am thrilled to start the experimentation and see where it will take me.

This grant from AATCC will help me reawaken the dream of experimenting with natural dyes to my highest potential. I am excited about sourcing the required raw materials, substrates, and resources.

With this, I aim to add value to sustainable and ethical fashion/textiles.” – Kavya

Congratulations Kavya, on your well-deserved award!
