AIGA Competition Judged by MS Health Communication Design Program Director

MS Health Communication Design program director and AIGA National Board Member emeritus, Maribeth Kradel-Weitzel was honored to serve as a judge for the recent AIGA Philadelphia competition, APPEAR. AIGA is the country’s oldest and largest professional organization for design, and the Philadelphia chapter is home to a vibrant, energetic and supportive community of designers.

APPEAR is a showcase built in response to the “unseen era” of Philadelphia design (2020–2022) where the notion of anything live or in person was inconceivable—exhibitions were few and far between, collaboration became digital, and isolation turned an industry that thrives on collaboration and discovery inward. But, along with the isolation and the struggles came extraordinary efforts. Emerging talent found new ways to get noticed and a wherewithal to succeed. Seasoned designers turned to design for social good as an outlet. New studios and designers changing paths and finding new journeys in visual communications thrived with good old-fashioned Philadelphia-style grit and entrepreneurial spirit.

Selected works will be on exhibit during Design Philadelphia, October 5-14, 2023 at AIA Philadelphia (1218 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107.) A salon will occur on Monday, October 9, 2023.

Come join the fun and be inspired! More information and registration is here.
