Jefferson Fashion Design Film Premiere and Runway Highlights on Fox29 Philadelphia

Thomas Jefferson University’s Fashion Design program garnered attention on Fox29 Philadelphia in early May for its annual Fashion Film & Runway Premiere, an event showcasing the creativity and talent of the graduating senior Fashion Design students. Four students from the Class of 2024- Kalen Jordan, Miriam Badri, Spryng Matos, and Stanislava Norets- were featured on the morning news show alongside Program Director Farai Simoyi and looks from their capstone collections.

The featured fashion design students highlighted the aspects of their designs and Jefferson’s collaborative community that make their collections unique. In an era where sustainability and inclusivity are pivotal in fashion discourse,  students spoke to their emphasis on ethical practices and the importance of diverse representation in the collections showcased. Miriam, Kalen, and Spryng also showcased their custom textiles made in collaboration with Jefferson’s Textile Design students. Stanislava called attention to the importance of a strong inspirational concept. Her avant-garde designs bring awareness to the complex mix of emotions felt by students in their 20s, like uncertainty and hope for the future. From avant-garde couture to ready-to-wear innovations, the breadth of styles featured on the morning news segment demonstrates the versatility and adaptability of the students in the Jefferson Fashion Design Program.

Jefferson’s Fashion Design program is a hub of creativity, nurturing emerging designers to push boundaries and redefine fashion norms. The annual Fashion Film Premiere & Runway Show serves as a platform for these students to display their collections, each piece reflecting meticulous craftsmanship and a deep understanding of design principles. This year’s show, as advertised on Fox29, not only celebrated aesthetic expression but also underscores the program’s commitment to preparing future leaders in the fashion industry.
