Friday, February 24, 2023, Kanbar College played host to 15 students from Independence Charter School (ICS). ICS is a K-8 school located in the heart of Center City (16th & Lombard Streets), which draws student from every zip code in Philadelphia. The 15 students were part of a fashion elective course offered at ICS. The students spent part of the morning with students and faculty in our Fashion Design Program and part of the afternoon with students and faculty in our FMM Program. The impact our teams had on the students and teachers from ICS was outstanding! Programs like this leave great imprints on the young minds of these students. An imprint that could lead them back to Jefferson on their educational journeys, but maybe more importantly an impact on their lives that will lead them to general success in life.
Independence Charter School 8th grade Spanish teacher Olga Molinares expressed how enthused and inspired the students were by their visit with Jefferson Fashion programs. “It brought me so much joy to see them engaged in the activities and not hesitating to share their ideas with everyone,” she said. “I hope we can do this again next year!” Below are some messages Independence Charter School sent to Jefferson Faculty and students after their visit.
