HFPA Foundation Gala and Scholarship

Textile Design undergraduate students Skylar Strouss, Candace Betts, Misty Limeburner and Fashion Merchandising and Management undergraduate student Angelo DiProspero were guests of the Home Fashion Products Association on September 13, 2023, at the HFPA Foundation Gala in New York City.  This annual event is held during Market Week (for soft home products—window treatments, top-of-bed, kitchen, and bath textiles) as a fundraiser for the HFPA Scholarship Fund.

On September 13, prior to the gala at the Harvard Club, Skylar, Candace, and Misty were hosted by Philadelphia Textile alum Jim Geise at the S. Lichtenberg & Co., Inc. showroom.  In addition to a fantastic tour of the showroom in which they learned about the latest trends in window treatments, the students joined Market Week presentations for Lichtenberg customers.

Geise facilitated Jefferson’s involvement with HFPA in 2022, when Jim, Scott Goldstein (CEO of Lichtenberg), and their leadership team first brought the scholarship opportunity to campus.  The HFPA scholarship program provides financial support to students pursuing a career in the home fashions industry.  In 2023, six students, two each from Fashion Design, Fashion Merchandising and Management, and Textile Design, were awarded the HFPA Scholarship following an application and interview process.
