We are pleased to announce that Professor Jason Kirk in the Animation & Digital Media program is now a full-time faculty member! Currently, Kirk teaches undergraduate students 3D Modeling and Animation, as well as lending his talents to instruct the senior Animation Capstone courses alongside Lowell Boston.

Outside of PhilaU, Kirk has worked on a variety of projects that use 3D technology in interesting ways. In addition to creating and animating character and prop models for multiple short films as an undergraduate student at Drexel University and contributing to a couple of video games as well, Kirk dedicated his Master’s Thesis Project at Drexel to researching how patient specific 3D printed cardiac anatomical models can be used in improving communication between doctors and patients.

Beginning Fall 2016, Kirk is researching methods of using 3D printing as a tool for animation as a PhD candidate at Drexel. His research will be conducted under John Berton Sr. in Drexel’s eXtreme High Frame Rate Lab.
