From July 8th to 12th, Thomas Jefferson University welcomed high school students to its annual Fashion & Textiles Summer Workshop, an immersive experience designed to ignite creativity and passion in the world of fashion. Under this year’s theme, “Joyful Expression,” participants delved into the dynamic realms of Fashion Merchandising & Management, Textile Design, and Fashion Design.
Throughout the week, students navigated through each department, gaining hands-on experience and insight into the multifaceted fashion industry. They started by exploring fashion merchandising strategies, where they learned how to analyze market trends and create compelling brand narratives. Moving into Textile Design, they experimented with fabric patterns and materials, focusing on how textures and colors can convey emotional and aesthetic messages. Finally, in Fashion Design, students put their skills to the test, conceptualizing and crafting garments that captured the essence of “Joyful Expression.”
The workshop culminated in a vibrant presentation day, where students showcased their mock fashion brands to an audience of Thomas Jefferson University faculty, peers, and family members. Each group demonstrated their innovative designs and marketing strategies, reflecting the week’s theme through their unique projects.
The workshop not only fostered skills in fashion design and management but also encouraged students to express their creativity and enthusiasm for the industry. By blending practical experience with artistic exploration, Thomas Jefferson University provided an enriching platform for aspiring fashion professionals to shine.
