TJU East Falls is First to be Visited by the Kravet Workspace Mobile Showroom

On Friday, September 10^th, the Textile Design department hosted the Kravet Workspace Mobile Showroom on campus. Jefferson was honored to be the very first university visited—thanks to wonderful alum Scott Kravet. For those not in the know, Kravet Inc is a leader in the home furnishings market. The 5th generation family business designs and distributes all manner of textiles for the home and contract industries.

The mobile showroom is a newly outfitted luxury showroom that encompasses all of Kravet’s family of brands. According to Kravet, the mobile showroom “presents a wide assortment of products that serves as a perfect encapsulation of all that Kravet has to offer. It offers advanced technology to streamline a customer’s shopping experience.”  During the two-hour visit, approximately 30 students from Textile Design and Interior Design explored the extensive offerings of textiles for interiors, from window treatments to wallcoverings and upholstery to carpeting.

Kravet managers Curtis Meier and Bob Beloff helmed the visit and interacted with students, faculty, and administration.  Bob shared the following comments:

“It really was a fantastic morning! Curtis and I couldn’t have been happier with the attendance and how engaged the students were. EVERY one of them spent time pouring through all the van had to offer! They had great questions and brought energy and enthusiasm to the morning. I’ve attended other student events and none had the engagement we saw this week. I felt your students represented themselves and the University very well. You should be very proud of them as I’m sure you are. We’d be very happy to come back for future events.

The Textile Design program students are also participating in a Kravet Design of Distinction project this semester. This project will culminate in industry judging at the end of the Fall semester.  We appreciate our long-standing partnership with Kravet and are excited to see what our students create!
