Emotional support animals can be an amazing resource for college students who suffer from anxiety, depression, and other often debilitating mental health issues. They can literally be lifesaving. But they’re not accessible. The financial barrier is too high for a lot of students. Adoption fees, supplies, food, and vet visits can really add up. But 1,100 college students commit suicide each year in the US. Isn’t even just one life worth the effort?
