Industry members of the Delaware Valley Section of the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) held their fall meeting on the East Falls campus of Thomas Jefferson University on Sept 19th. Members were treated to a tour of the Fashion and Textiles Future Center, the Jeff Bruner Materials Characterization Laboratory, and the Industrial Design studios.
Following the tour, a Q & A session was held giving TJU students an opportunity to hear about the advantages of an AATCC membership. At least 20 students and a number of TJU faculty attended the session and spoke with professionals about how they employ AATCC methods in class and industry-sponsored projects. AATCC encourages student membership through university student chapters (TJU’s chapter dates to 1936) and offers student members scholarships, design competitions, and research support. Industry professionals in attendance represented: W. L. Gore, Test Fabrics, JL Vila, and Wolf Dye & Bleachworks.
We are always happy to have such esteemed guests as AATCC on campus. These connections are vitally important for both our students and the textile industry at a large.
