Alumnus and Former Professor Give Advice to Engineering Students

On Wednesday, April 17, 2024, Kevin Drevik, a former adjunct professor for Industrial & System Engineering courses, and Ryan Flaherty, BSE Industrial & Systems Engineering 2011, visited Thomas Jefferson University as part of the Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers outreach to present a Resume and Interview workshop.  This seminar was designed to help students create effective resumes to get noticed both by software utilized by companies to review resumes and the Human Resources employees who also look at resumes for job openings, and to navigate the interviews that follow.  Kevin and Ryan discussed how to create and fine tune resumes and cover letters to help increase the chance of getting an interview and then how to prepare for, and do well in an interview, and how to follow up with the interviewer afterwards, often giving their experiences as both those seeking jobs in the past and those who were tasked with reviewing resumes and interviewing job applicants.  The workshop was attended by 24 undergraduate Engineering and Mechanical Engineering students who asked numerous questions during the presentation.  Kevin and Ryan may be returning in the 24-25 year to discuss the first 100 days on the job.
